Save Walton on Thames Bowling Club

We are deeply concerned about the potential closure of Walton on Thames Bowling Club.

This club has been a cornerstone of our community located in Elm Grove Recreation ground since 1922, providing a welcoming space for people of all ages to engage in physical activity, social interaction, and community building.

We urge Elmbridge Borough Council to reconsider the decision to close Walton on Thames Bowling Club and to recognise the invaluable contributions it makes to our community. The closure of this club would be a significant loss to Walton on Thames and its residents.

Belmont BC gets the season off & running.

5th April. One of the first clubs to open in Surrey.

A very successful day for the club enjoyed by 150-200 people.
Following extensive leaflet distribution in the local area, support from various groups including the Streatham Society, W.I, walking clubs and a big social media campaign.
Everyone took advantage of the beautiful weather and refreshments from the Bar and the BBQ. Most tried at least a few ends, ably assisted by our members with a couple agreeing to join on the day. Many others are considering coaching and membership. There were many children enjoying the bowls with others in their 90s.
At 12:45 Martin Abrams, our local Councilor substituting in as VIP delivered our first Ceremonial wood of the season. He and his 2 children stayed for the rest of the day and had a great time.
The day also included the Grand National where we ran a sweepstake, all watching and cheering avidly.
One of our directors also celebrated her 70th birthday with everyone with members of her family joining us in the evening.
A great day for Belmont and amazing start to the season.

Currently in addition to being President, he is Men's Captain, Club Contact, Competition Secretary, Men's Match Secretary, Men's Secretary & Treasurer.

Sheron Mitchell retires !!!
Yes it's true, Sheron is standing down as Administrator today 28th February 2025.
It is hard to find enough words to describe her contribution to the County, it has been immense, it would be true to say we would not be where we are today without her. Sheron's dedication and commitment cannot be questioned.
Sheron was SCWBA secretary from 2014 - 2022, she became Bowls Surrey Administrator in 2023. During her time as administrator she has played a major role in bringing the men's & women's associations together to form a unified county.
Sheron remained in post as Administrator whilst she was President, it's hard enough doing one job.
Sheron was also the Senior Team Manager at one stage, where they enjoyed success at Leamington.
On behalf of hundreds of players if not thousands, I want to thank you for everything, I for one will miss you.
Enjoy whatever it is you have planned.
