Surrey retain the Home Counties League Cup

Played at Egham BC in the rain on 19th July against a very good team from the Royal County of Berkshire. Surrey got off to a flying start and at one stage were 39 shots ahead, but Berkshire to their credit fought back and got to within 3 shots, Surrey managed to hold on to win by 11 shots.

All credit must be given to all players from both teams for making it such a good match to watch. Thanks go to the umpire Charlotte who got absolutely soaked.
Thanks also go to Egham outdoor BC for hosting the event.

Above, a very proud Barrie Emanuel receiving the trophy from the Home Counties Chairman Mark Broadway.

Barrie has put together a very good squad, as a result Surrey have won the League two years consecutively. This is a very hard league to win.
Well done Barrie, lets make it three next year.

In the above image are the players in the inaugural Bowls England Inter- County-Over 60's mixed competition. Surrey were playing Berkshire at Desborough Bowling club.

It is a 6 rink match played over 21 ends straight knockout. The Semi-final & final will be played at Leamington

I am pleased to say that Surrey won overall by 23 shots, a great start to the campaign. We now have to play Middlesex on 15th July 11:00 am at Southey BC. Well done team !!!!

DISABILITY BOWLS

Gill Platt and Mike McDonagh were selected to represent England and Jane Harding as a travelling reserve in the Para Home Nations Series which took place at Victoria Park, Leamington on 27th-29th June.

Competition between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales was fierce on this extraordinarily hot weekend and Gill & Mike played in both the morning and afternoon sessions of each of the 3 days of the series.

England were leading after the first day, but by the end of the afternoon session on the 2nd day it was clear that Scotland would progress into the last day in the gold position with England intent on claiming Silver, which by the end of the 3rd day they did.

In the photos see Mike & Gill receiving their medals from Paul Green one of the Bowls England Vice Presidents for 2025 and to read a synopsis of the event & view more photos, please go to News and Media page on the BE Website in the article 'England Come Home With Silver at the British Bowls Para Series.

 We'll done Gill and Mike...

WHO SAID IT WAS AN OLD PERSONS GAME? WELL THEY ARE WRONG.

Bowls Surrey entered two girls teams into the National Amy Rose competition & two boys teams into the National White Rose competition.
Congratulations to the girls B team who were successful and have qualified for the National finals at Leamington. Team B of the boys teams just missed out to Kent by two shots of qualifying.
Just to give you an idea of what was was involved, the competition ran over two days for the boys, each team starting at 09:30 am & finishing at 18:00 pm, each team between them played a total of 176 ends and bowled 856 bowls. It was very tiring, enjoyable & a great experience. They all did surrey proud.
There were a large number of spectators, a great couple of days was had by all. Our thanks go to Southey BC & Horsham BC for hosting the event.

Area 4 for the 3rd year running win the Walter Cross 2025. They won their first match against Area 2 104 - 88, then in a very close final they overcame Area 1 101-94.

In an exciting final Area 1 put up a very good fight against the reigning champions, with one end to play they still had a chance to win, but it was just a bit to much for them. In their first match they won against Area 3 92 - 86.

Area 2 played Area 3 for third & fourth position, Area 2 won 82 - 74.
