Walter Cross Trophy

This will be a competitive 5 rink competition between the 4 Surrey Areas on Sunday 3rd May 2026 at Croydon BC starting at 9.30am.  Followed by a light lunch provided by Croydon BC and 2 afternoon matches.  A draw will take place on the day to reveal who plays who and on what green.

The teams will be selected by the Area Managers in due course and alterations in players may be made before the afternoon matches.  Team sheets with players names should be provided to the County Team Manager and his advisers prior to the start of the matches. Area Team Managers are reminded that they should pick their strongest team available and not just pick everyone who applies.

All games are now 18 ends.

There will be Middleton Cup advisors / selectors in attendance so all players will have a chance to stake a claim for the Home Counties Teams.

Home Counties League

For the first time in its history Surrey are entering 2 teams in the Home Counties League in 2026.  This is to fill the void made by the withdrawal of Kent from the league due to internal reasons.  There will be no A and B or 1st and 2nd teams  The 2 sides will be known as Surrey and Surrey Leopards.  The Surrey team will consist of approximately 32 established Home Counties players, mostly the team which has won the league in the past 2 seasons. The Surrey Leopards will consist mainly of players who did well in the previous years competitions, players who have played the ‘odd’ game in the HCL but that have deserved to play more often and players who have progressed from the under 25s and from the Walter Cross squads.

Both teams can have a maximum of 8 Middleton Cup players playing

All players that play in the Middleton Cup trial will be in the Home Counties League

All players that play in the Walter Cross will be in contention for the HCL

Players can only play for one Surrey team in any one season.

As usual there will be 3 group games with the 2 league winners playing each other in the final.

All dates and fixtures are on this website

Middleton Cup

The Middleton Cup trial is to be held at Chipstead BC on Saturday 9th May.  Players reporting at 9.30am for a 10am start.  Dress attire is County Shirt/Jackets with navy blue shorts. This will be a 6 rink trial over 18 ends.  There will be no second Middleton Cup Trial.  There are however 2 Home Counties Matches on Saturday 16th May and Saturday 23rd May the first involving Surrey vs Surrey Leopards which will provide us with enough practice and chance to impress the selectors.   All dates and fixtures are on this website.
